A series of environmental events took place in Nukus as part of the UzWaterAware project

On October 2–3, the Uzbekistan branch of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia held a series of activities in the Republic of Karakalpakstan under the EU-funded UzWaterAware project.

More than 160 schoolchildren from Nukus and the Nukus district took part in the events together with representatives of relevant institutions, environmental organisations, and journalists.

Children attended eco-lessons based on five social videos about rational water use in agriculture, daily life, virtual water, and careful treatment of natural resources.

During the visit, the project handed over water awareness videos, a children’s book about water translated into Karakalpak, information booklets, and personal protective equipment to the local education system.

A separate meeting in Nukus brought together representatives of the Ecological Movement and the women’s wing of the Ecological Party to discuss women’s role in water saving and future cooperation.
