  • Water is one of the most important components of life on Earth. Fresh water occupies a special place among the Earth’s natural resources: it is irreplaceable. Already today, fresh water supplies are being catastrophically depleted. According to UN experts, approximately one sixth of the world’s population does not have access to clean drinking water, and one third does not have access to water for domestic needs.

World Meteorological Day.

  • This is the date of entry into force in 1950. Convention of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). In Russia, the official “start” of the hydrometeorological monitoring system was given 170 years ago by decree of Emperor Nicholas I. International Mother Earth Day.

  • Who doesn’t know the words of the little prince, the hero of Saint-Exupery: “I got up in the morning, washed myself, put myself in order – and immediately put my planet in order.” But what it really means to put your planet in order is something that few people know. As well as the fact that on April 22 the whole world celebrates Earth Day. Planet Earth has existed for about 4600000000 years. A number with so many zeros is almost impossible to imagine. Let’s artificially reduce it by crossing out all the zeros for understanding. Now we can say: The Earth has existed for 46 years. We know nothing at all about the first seven years of its existence. From the middle period of her life we know only a few fragments. At the age of 42, the Earth began to blossom. Dinosaurs appeared a year ago (at the 45 year mark), and mammals appeared about 8 months ago. In the middle of the last week, the first apes appeared, and at the end of it, an ice age began on Earth. Modern man appeared just 4 hours ago! Within the last hour he has learned to cultivate the land, and one minute ago the first factory began operating. In these last 60 seconds, man has managed to turn the Earth into a veritable garbage dump.

29 – “SOS Saiga” days for saiga protection.

  • The saiga is under threat of complete extinction. A Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation of Saiga Antelope was signed. This antelope lives in the desert and steppe regions of Central Asia. Factors of the greatest threat: disturbance of habitats, in particular migration routes; poaching aimed at both harvesting horns and meat; pressure from unregulated wolf populations.
  • We come across chemicals every day, and this is not only household chemicals and medicines. People living in large cities, where industry is rapidly developing, are constantly at risk. Chemical hazards can threaten from everywhere: emissions from plants and factories, industrial and railway accidents, toxic substances getting into water, soil and air – no one is immune from this in our time. Any chemical substances are dangerous for living beings because even in small quantities they cause severe acute and chronic diseases, disrupt the normal functioning of the body, and the consequences can be very tragic.

Chemical Safety Day.

Sun Day.

  • The sun is friend and foe. It can be dangerous. Exposure of children to the sun is fraught with sunstroke and skin burns. You need to be able to protect yourself. There are 280 sunny days a year in Uzbekistan. There is very great potential for the development of solar energy.

Environmental Education Day.

  • Environmental education both in the world and in Uzbekistan is considered a priority direction in the training and education of students in secondary schools. The highest and final goal of environmental education (EE) and upbringing is considered to be the formation of an eccentric type of environmental consciousness, since only consciousness determines a person’s behavioral reactions and his actions, expressed in environmental culture.

International Climate Day.

June 15 – Action Days for Small Rivers and Water Bodies.

River Day.

International Day for Biological Diversity.

  • On 20 December 2000, the General Assembly proclaimed 22 May, the day of adoption of the Convention on Biological Diversity, as International Day for Biological Diversity (resolution 55/201). Fisherman’s Day.

  • Fisherman’s Day is perhaps the most favorite summer holiday, both for fishermen themselves and for their friends and relatives. In addition to the fact that fishing is an interesting hobby and a pleasant pastime, it is also a great opportunity to meet friends, spend time in nature and enjoy a pleasant holiday in a good company of friends. On this day, it is necessary to think about what contribution each fisherman can make to the conservation of fish. It has become traditional to clean river beds from entangled nets, household waste that ends up in water bodies, etc.

World Population Day.

  • According to UN forecasts, by 2050 the world’s population could range from 7.9 to 10.9 billion people, depending on how effective family planning programs are implemented in some countries. On the night of October 31, a baby was born, becoming the 7 billionth inhabitant of the Earth.
  • The problems of constant population growth worry governments and international organizations because the larger the planet’s population, the greater the extensive human activity, which too often negatively affects the state of the earth’s resources and the environment, which can lead to irreversible consequences.

Deer Day.

  • There is such a legend: once, Apollo’s favorite, the handsome young Cypress accidentally mortally wounded a red deer with whom he was friends. The cypress was so grieved by what had happened that he asked the Olympian gods to turn him into a tree of sorrow so that he could mourn his friend forever… In ancient times, in the East, at the sight of a deer, the rider dismounted from the saddle, giving way. This noble deer is called “Hangul” or Bukhara deer. The horns of Hangul reach a length of 125 cm and form up to 14 branches. For its magnificent horns it is also called the “Royal Flower”.
  • There are only about 1,400 deer left in the world. In 1981-82 24 deer were brought to the Badai-Tugai Nature Reserve. Today, the reserve and adjacent tugai massifs are home to 582 deer, that is, a third of the world’s total population. Several dozen deer have also been preserved in the Zeravshan Nature Reserve. Hangul is found in the Tajik Tigrovaya Balka Nature Reserve. It is also preserved in many zoos around the world.

International Homeless Animals Day.

  • This day was included in the international calendar according to the proposal of the International Society for Animal Rights (ISAR) of the USA. Animal protection is an activity aimed at improving the care and treatment of animals and preventing cruelty to animals.
  • In the Tashkent region, the NGO “Kindness and Mercy” opened a shelter for homeless animals. A kind attitude towards “our smaller brothers” can be explained as a softening of morals, an increase in the cultural and material standard of living of our fellow citizens. Unfortunately, our country does not yet have a law on the protection of animals from cruelty, as well as on administrative liability for cruelty to animals. But it’s just a matter of time.

Birthday of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Forest Workers Day.

  • There are not many forests in Uzbekistan, only 7% of the total area of the country. Such a small area of forests and uneven distribution over the territory makes them an invaluable wealth of the country, which must be protected in every possible way and replenished with all efforts.

Car-Free Day.

  • Leave the car at home! Be a pedestrian – breathe oxygen! International Car-free Day. On this day, a large role is given to public transport and bicycles, and the use of personal vehicles is limited. In all countries on this day, in addition to environmental problems associated with the development of motor transport, much attention is paid to road safety. In large cities, where dozens of people die in road accidents every day, holding such events helps reduce the number of road incidents. Bicycle paths are being developed, the air is becoming cleaner, and people are becoming more attentive.

World Tourism Day.

  • Ecotourism is a type of active nature tourism. It allows travel with scientific and educational purposes and an area of interest, which is the natural environment, and creates the opportunity to develop tourism infrastructure. This creates motivation for the population living near natural objects to preserve them. As well as the opportunity to earn money without harming nature.

World Habitat Protection Day.

  • Habitat Conservation Day is celebrated on October 6th all over the world. This holiday was approved in 1979 as part of the Convention on the Conservation of Wild Fauna and Flora and Natural Habitats in Europe. Man, through his activities, has long been influencing nature, changing it. Every year, more and more territories in the world become farmland, pastures, and are subject to changes due to the growth of cities, mining, construction of factories and other national economic facilities. Over the 19th centuries AD, 150 species of mammals, mostly large ones, and 139 species of birds disappeared across the globe. Everything that disappears in the animal world disappears forever.

International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.

  • Since 2013, a tradition has emerged in Uzbekistan to celebrate the Day of Migratory Animals. Various members of the animal kingdom periodically embark on risky and grueling journeys just to survive as a species. On this date, the public and scientists want to draw attention to the problem of migratory animals dying from various barriers built by humans. Uzbekistan ratified the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals.

Recycling Day.

  • Unfortunately, today we are increasingly becoming hyperconsumers. Most people around the world never in their lives think about the simple laws of nature, which were very succinctly expressed by the famous scientist Barry Commoner: “everything is connected to everything,” “everything has to be paid for,” “everything has to go somewhere,” and “nature knows best.” Almost no one thinks about how much energy, resources and labor are spent on the production of packaging in which everything is wrapped, even those products that do not require packaging. In the same way, no one thinks about what happens to these mountains of garbage that every civilized person leaves behind. This is not only an environmental or economic problem, as many people are accustomed to believe. This is a problem of education first and foremost.

International No Smoking Day.

  • Let us remember once again the dangers of smoking! It has long been known that tobacco is harmful to health. They saw that smokers were tormented by a hacking cough, they knew that it was difficult to breathe in a smoky room, that tobacco interfered with mental work. Experiments have shown that animals die under the influence of nicotine. Then the phrase was born: “A drop of nicotine kills a horse.” To be precise, a drop of pure nicotine can kill not one, but three horses. It turns out that if a person smokes from 1 to 9 cigarettes a day, he shortens his life (on average) by 4.6 years compared to non-smokers; if he smokes from 10 to 19 cigarettes, then for 5.5 years; if the number of cigarettes smoked is from 20 to 39 – by 6.2 years.

International Pesticide Action Day.

International Volunteer Day.

  • WHO are the volunteers? Who are these weirdo volunteers who spend their personal time, their energy, their days, hours and weeks getting together and participating in these “weird projects”? And we are the same as all of you, we’re just tired of waiting for someone to change this world for us, make it cleaner, better, brighter. Tired of asking, waiting and just hoping. Our time is a time not only of hope, but also of action!

World Climate Protection Day.

  • Climate warming has attracted the attention of the world community and prompted scientists, practitioners and politicians to consider climate as the most important natural resource, the redistribution of which between states has serious socio-economic and political consequences that determine the well-being of the world’s states.

International Mountain Day.

  • The “International Mountain Day”, established by the decision of the 57th UN General Assembly in 2003, is celebrated. The relevant resolution of the General Assembly noted the particular relevance of actions aimed at the sustainable development of mountain regions.
  • Mountains cover about one-fourth of the planet’s surface and are home to almost 10 percent of the population. This is a reserve for many unique species of plants and animals, the source of water for all the main rivers of the earth.
