Illegal landfills and mountains of garbage are visible even from space.

Illegal landfills and mountains of garbage are visible even from space. Uzbekcosmos has released alarming data: there are more than 1.9 thousand illegal landfills in the country, covering an area of about 721 hectares. To better understand the scale, imagine an area three times the size of Monaco, or more than a thousand football fields, covered in mountains of garbage. And these are not just statistics – this is our reality, which we breathe, which penetrates into the soil, groundwater, and ultimately into our homes. Such landfills pose serious threats to the environment. They spoil the quality of the soil, poison water and air, increase the risk of the spread of infectious diseases, and also contribute to the spread of harmful insects. The worst thing is that this directly affects people's health, increasing the incidence of lung cancer and other respiratory diseases. This is no longer just an environmental problem, it is a direct threat to national security. The Tashkent region became the leader in the anti-rating with 363 illegal landfills. Karakalpakstan is in second place with 243 landfills, followed by Navoi region with 216 landfills. But don’t be fooled that the problem is limited only to these regions. It is ubiquitous and indicates serious failures in the waste management system. And it’s hard to blame someone abstract here. These landfills are the result of the actions of the people living in these regions. No one flew from Mars to throw garbage in the wrong place. It is we ourselves who litter our streets and poison what surrounds us. Businessmen, in order to save on disposal costs, turn nature into their garbage dump. Citizens, in order not to bother, throw garbage where it is easier. As long as we remain silent and turn a blind eye, this will only get worse. It is obvious that the fight against illegal dumping must be tougher. But the main battle is the fight against indifference. The indifference of those who create these landfills, and those who prefer not to notice them. It's time for us all to understand: if we don't take action, this garbage chaos will swallow us completely.
