Problems of water distribution and water consumption in Uzbekistan and steps for their rational use.

Problems of water distribution and water consumption in Uzbekistan and steps for their rational use. The current annual demand for water from all sectors of the economy is about 64.2 km3 (see Table 1 below). In the future, water requirements for drinking water supply, industry and rural areas will increase, and in irrigated agriculture they will decrease due to water-saving technologies and measures to increase fertility. At the 2030 level, the total required volume of water for Uzbekistan should not exceed 60.1 km3 per year. TOTAL WATER USE BY UZBEKISTANAccording to the “Schemes”, the limit of Uzbekistan as a whole for the Amu Darya and Syrdarya river basins is 63.02 km3/year with a 100% limit. In case of reduced water availability, water intake limits are reduced. The country's total annual water intake at the level in the 1980s was about 66.1 km3. After gaining independence, Uzbekistan clearly showed a tendency to reduce the volume of water consumption and water withdrawal. In particular, during the period 2011-2015, the total water intake was about 53 km3 per year (Fig. 1, Table 2). However, in the last two years it has stopped at about 55 km3 per year.
