We learn to appreciate every drop of water. On September 28, 2019, the children’s environmental festival “Children and Water” was held in the Tashkent Botanical Garden under the motto “Water is the source of life.” The organizers of the Festival are the Republican Children's Center for Local History and Ecology "Barkamol Avlod" in collaboration with the NGO "EKOMAKTAV", within the framework of the UzWaterAware project, with the support of the branch of REC Central Asia in Uzbekistan. The main goal of the event is to attract children's attention to the rational use of water and increase their awareness of productive water use and environmental protection in the face of climate change. “Children and Water” is a fascinating eco-festival, which is held among members of local history and environmental groups of the Barkamol Avlod children's centers. The guys participate in several tours. In the drawing competition, it is important to depict the rational use of water and explain your idea, show environmental thinking about water and water use, using the example of your mahalla, home, school, district or region, talk about waste and pollution of water resources (indicate possible solutions to problems), and prepare a performance on an environmental theme. Winners and runners-up in the categories (“Exemplary theatrical production”, “The most beautiful drawing”, “The most intelligent participant”, “The most talented team”, “The youngest participant”) are awarded diplomas and memorable prizes. As part of the event, participants were presented with creative T-shirts from the UzWaterAware project. The progress of the competitions was observed by mentors and volunteers trained at the training seminars of this project. For reference: UzWaterAware is part of the European Union program “Sustainable management of water resources in rural areas of Uzbekistan” and consists of several components. Component 3 aims to increase awareness and partnerships for sustainable water and environmental development in Uzbekistan.” Implemented by the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC). Within the framework of component 3, six regional training seminars “Increasing the efficiency of the educational process on the topic “Water is the basis of life” were held for methodologists of regional branches of “Barkamol Avlod” and teaching staff of the system of the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan. Trained specialists conducted more than 300 similar seminars on site. Eco-projects “Water Day”, “Respect Water”, “Water Relay Race” were organized during the summer in more than 100 children's health camps with the participation of about 35,000 boys and girls.
